Since its inception, CLC has distributed hundreds of millions of dollars to the Government of Canada. Principal Functions

Based at corporate head office in Toronto, the Director, Planning & Urban Design, and Project Manager, Real Estate (Ontario) will report to the General Manager, Real Estate, Ontario. The Director will work with other department members and manage a team of external consultants as required.

The Director plays a critical role within the Ontario Real Estate Group and is responsible for participating in the master planning, rezoning and implementation of land development projects located in the Ontario Region in order to create livable environments based on the principles of good design, smart growth and sustainable development. This will include acting as a land use planning and urban design resource and/or project manager for the Ontario Region, as well as providing support to other managers in the Ontario Region.

The Director will manage and coordinate the planning and urban design elements of land development projects and will participate in obtaining municipal approvals and in the review of architectural urban design approvals. Moreover, the Director will be tasked with overseeing the development of project-specific urban design and architectural guidelines, participating in the property acquisition process and assisting in the preparation of business plans as required.

Critical to success in this role will be the incumbent’s ability of working in a dynamic, fast moving and political environment, while effectively balancing creativity with sound decision-making to render mature and supported decisions. The incumbent will be a team player who excels in working within collaborative environments and who possesses superior capabilities in motivating and developing effective working relationships with professionals, senior officials, internal resources and consultants in order to bring projects to a successful conclusion. The ideal candidate must have exceptional communication, relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to grasp and convey complex ideas in an articulate manner.

Key Requirements:

- Degree in Urban Planning or Urban Design studies or related field with a minimum of 7 years post graduate experience.

- Membership with an accredited professional association in planning, urban design or architecture (e.g., member of the Canadian Institute of Planners)

- Extensive knowledge of municipal government organization structures and approval processes for land development, residential and commercial real estate, as well as extensive experience in securing approvals.

- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret a wide range of Municipal and Provincial planning legislation, implementation guidelines, municipal policy, and zoning bylaws, approval procedures, and regulations.

- Sound knowledge of condominium/apartment residential housing forms.

- Management experience in public and/or private sector.

- Sound working knowledge of contemporary urban design, planning, and development practices, including smart growth and sustainable development practices.

- Knowledge of all aspects of land use planning and development from initial review of project feasibility, concept planning, the municipal approval process, servicing, and knowledge of economic factors affecting real estate markets.

- Demonstrated project experience combined with ability to manage multiple projects, consistently meeting schedules, manage project files, and make appropriate decisions to promote the successful outcome of the project.

- Fluency in French is an asset.

Our client, a silver company trading on the Toronto Venture Exchange, is an advanced explorer-developer and owns several different exploration properties in Canada. They have identified the need for a Vice President, Exploration. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, the new Vice President, Exploration, will manage the geology department and resource evaluation for the Company’s exploration and development projects.

Based in Vancouver, the Vice President, Exploration, will provide technical leadership in the development of the Company’s exploration strategy and will establish technical standards for the Company. In addition, he/she will liaise with different stakeholders including government authorities and mentor a team of professionals. A degree in geology and (an advanced degree and/or a business related degree will be considered a asset) combined with a minimum of 15+ years experience in exploration, including managing at a high level with a successful discovery track-record will be critical for success. Significant experience in gold exploration and VMS deposits is required, including substantial practical exploration experience on exploration projects ranging from regional and immature greenfields to detailed resource definition programs.

The new Vice President, Exploration, will need to be able to assume the role of Qualified Person for projects as defined under National Instrument 43-101. This role requires a “Senior Exploration Executive” who brings “best in class” experiences and knowledge with the ability to transfer these to others.
