4790 Director of Sales & Marketing

Bedford is currently recruiting a Director of Sales and Marketing (Books Division) for a leading not-for-profit company within the scholarly publishing community. 

Based in Toronto, this is a newly created position reporting directly to the Vice President, Scholarly Publishing and leading a team of 14 through 3 direct reports inclusive of the Trade and Course Inside Sales teams in addition to distributed commissioned Sales Representatives globally. Accountable for approximately $7M in annual revenue, the Director of Sales and Marketing will provide day-to-day leadership and management of the sales and marketing functions during a transition period, creating a highly customer focused and action oriented environment. He/she will drive a modern and consistent sales, marketing and digital strategy and continue to focus on growth in e-books. 

The ideal candidate will have 7-10-years’ experience in sales (particularly trade sales) and marketing management experience in a publishing company and experience leading a distributed sales force.  Critical to success in this mandate will be the incumbent's understanding of how to take businesses to the next level of performance by creatively seeking out opportunities that had previously not been identified, and he/she will have the ability to proactively drive organizational and cultural changes to adapt to changing market demands, technology and internal initiatives.
