3317 Vice President, Exploration

Our client, a silver company trading on the Toronto Venture Exchange, is an advanced explorer-developer and owns several different exploration properties in Canada. They have identified the need for a Vice President, Exploration. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, the new Vice President, Exploration, will manage the geology department and resource evaluation for the Company’s exploration and development projects.

Based in Vancouver, the Vice President, Exploration, will provide technical leadership in the development of the Company’s exploration strategy and will establish technical standards for the Company. In addition, he/she will liaise with different stakeholders including government authorities and mentor a team of professionals. A degree in geology and (an advanced degree and/or a business related degree will be considered a asset) combined with a minimum of 15+ years experience in exploration, including managing at a high level with a successful discovery track-record will be critical for success. Significant experience in gold exploration and VMS deposits is required, including substantial practical exploration experience on exploration projects ranging from regional and immature greenfields to detailed resource definition programs.

The new Vice President, Exploration, will need to be able to assume the role of Qualified Person for projects as defined under National Instrument 43-101. This role requires a “Senior Exploration Executive” who brings “best in class” experiences and knowledge with the ability to transfer these to others.

This is a senior role for a candidate with considerable experience dealing with multiple capital projects with the ability to establish priorities within the inventory of capital projects (both planned and ongoing), and assign resources to those projects as required.  Given the nature of this position, it will require a combination of technical knowledge to deal with the projects and diplomacy to deal with the competing interests for resources within the company.  This position will be responsible for the orderly selection and sequencing of approved projects taking into full consideration risk, value, impact and availability of required resources.

This will be a key position within a newly created internal group responsible for all facets of project management, across the company.

Candidates will have at least fifteen years of related project management experience coupled with at least an undergraduate degree in a related discipline such as business or engineering.  Previous experience in the areas of capital planning, business planning, project assessment and project prioritization is essential.  The ideal candidate will be required to work closely and collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels of the company in order to adequately manage the collection, quality and modeling of information required in order to make informed business decisions.

Our client is one of the world’s largest publicly traded uranium companies seeking a Senior Project (Studies) Manager.   You will be responsible for the execution of a portfolio of projects and project management with a focus on study work.  You will be involved from concept through feasibility stages of major projects and be responsible for implementing and enhancing existing front end engineering processes and procedures to ensure consistent delivery of projects within a diverse portfolio. You will also source and procure contractors and supervise existing staff and contractors.  Candidates will need to have a degree in engineering or geology and 15 years or more of experience related to mining studies and capital projects. You have expertise in mining front-end disciplines such as geology, mining, environmental, geotechnical, hydrogeology, geochemistry, metallurgy and process engineering. 

A comprehensive knowledge of a phased approach to Capital Projects, NI 43-101 requirements, certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute and a Professional Engineering (or Geology) designation would be an asset.

Our client is one of the world’s largest publicly traded uranium companies seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer.   You will provide mechanical engineering oversight on major projects executed within the company and by outside consulting companies providing engineering services to our client.

The oversight role consists of ensuring engineering work is done in accordance with our client’s processes, procedures, standards and regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for developing and integrating mechanical design standards for use on all major projects.

You have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering accompanied by 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in process and mining operations.  You must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).

Experience in piping, equipment design and layout, building services and HVAC, as well as material handling is preferred.
